I have this old but beautiful huge mirror that I’ve itched to refinish and when I had the opportunity to use Velvet Finishes paint I was super excited to go for it! It was starting to look worn and old, and I knew I had to do something to beautify it.
We decided to hang this huge mirror in the foyer and we really like it there. This is what it looked like before the transformation. It’s nearly impossible to get a shot from a front angle because it’s in the foyer so excuse the awkward angles of the photos.
Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty with its natural wood finish but after years of wear, it really needed perking up and Velvet Finishes was the perfect solution.
I really love the detail of this mirror. I knew it had potential!
Velvet Finishes line of products is designed with ease of use in mind. First time DIYer? No problem. Old pro? You are going to love this paint!
The array of colors is incredible!
I am so happy with the whole new look this mirror has taken on. I wanted to wait a few days for the paint to set before I really gave the mirror a good cleaning.
After the paint was dry, I added Enhance Dark Glaze in Timeless to add more depth and dimension. I love it. You can use it in so many ways. I used a dry brush to apply and then took a rag to wipe away the excess. I wanted to use it in some areas heavier and some lighter to get a more multi-dimensional look.
I love the color and tone. It’s really perked up my entire foyer.
You can use the glaze as you like. The more you add, the more depth you get.
After the glaze application, I added a coat of their Protect which protects your furniture from daily wear, tear, nicks, and scratches.
I can’t wait to use Velvet Finishes on some other pieces I have. Velvet Finishes offers 21 gorgeous and on-trend colors and they also give you recipes to extend the color palette and help you create a perfect color for your specific project.
The quality of this paint is amazing. I am really looking forward to using it again for my next furniture restoration. I know you are going to flip over Velvet Finishes too!
