How To Create A Mind Blowing Furniture Transformation
Got that piece of furniture that needs a kick in the pants transformation? Well, I’ve got the boot! Not all furniture paints are created equal so you’ll want to be sure to use a chalk paint that offers outstanding coverage and premium quality.
Let me first explain where my inspiration came from this month for this mind-blowing furniture transformation.
This post is my entry for the July Fab Furniture Flippin’ Contest!
The featured paint company is a brand called CeCe Caldwell, and I must tell you how outstanding this chalk paint is before the reveal.
I was so fortunate to get this paint in exchange for my entry into to this contest. This post is sponsored by CeCe Caldwell Paints.
About the brand:
CeCe Caldwell Paints are poured carefully by hand and meticulously overseen from conception to completion. They are committed to making the world a better place by creating natural, non-toxic products that are safe for everyone. CeCe’s Paints are ideal for the retailer, seasoned professional, or first-time DIY-er who want the satisfaction of aesthetic quality and the reassurance of eco-friendly manufacturing.
This paint is unlike anything I’ve ever used before.
This is the paint color I used on the chest.
The coverage is a dream and the overall quality is outstanding!
Now, for the reveal of my mind-blowing transformation. I say mind-blowing because it truly is.
Some back story first – my mother passed over 30 years ago and left me a few pieces of her furniture to remember her. This chest of drawers is one of them. It’s at least over 50 years old and had some visible wear and tear. I thought staining it was the thing to do and it turned out too dark but, I left it in that state as knew someday I would refinish it once again. You can see the process I used to stain it here.
As you can see, it was way too dark and really dragged my bedroom down. I am thrilled I was able to transform this chest into a bright, chic, and stunning piece of furniture.
I decided to leave some of the original walnut trim around each drawer as a detail, and I’m so glad I did. I think it finished this dresser perfectly.
Here is a dramatic before and after picture. Wow!
I love having this chest of drawers for my makeup storage!
I also decided to leave the original hardware intact too which adds another element of overall charm to the dresser.
After the two coats of paints fully dried, I finished it with Ce Ce Caldwell’s Flat Matte no gloss finish.
This no gloss finish is a water-resistant brush-on sealer that will leave your project with a matte, almost chalky protective finish.
I hope you were able to get some inspiration today for your pieces of furniture that need a transformation!

O.M.G the before and after is amazing. Love the light bright after color and keeping the original hardware does like you say add more charm, plus, you get to keep the originalness that was your mothers so it’s doubly charming. You make transforming furniture look easy and yes I am inspired.
