1 – Finding Your Niche
Once you have firmly decided what you are going to blog about. Begin making a list of blog post ideas. Have at least 5 blog post ideas firmly in place before you move on to the next steps. Why? It makes sense to have these ideas nailed down before you get started. Grab a piece of paper and jot some ideas down today.
Maybe you want to be a Mommy Blogger
Mommy Bloggers are super popular and, as a parent, I’m sure you have loads of content you would love to share with your readers. Whatever you decide, be sure you choose something that’s near and dear to your heart, that’s genuine, and that provides content your readers can learn from. Learning how to start a blog can be easy and you don’t have to worry about learning it all at once.
Choosing the name of your blog can be a difficult task and, I recommend you do that first. Once you have found your niche – what you want to blog about – you need to develop a blog name you and your readers will identify with. Learning how to start a blog doesn’t have to be difficult but choosing your blog name can be a tough decision.
I made sure I had the name of my blog first and then as soon as I did, I signed up for hosting ( affiliate link – this means we may receive compensation for your review or rating). It’s a good idea to learn how to start a blog in steps.
These Tips Will Get You Started
- Take photos of your project. For example, if it’s how to sew a quilt – make sure you take photos of the before and after steps needed to create it. Make sure you have several good photos to share with your readers and your photos are crisp, clear, and well-lit. No one expects you to take photos like a professional photographer and your skills will improve over time.
- Outline the how-to steps so other’s can see how you created what you are about to share.
- Have a few good references you can link to in your blog post. It’s great for when you are ready to learn about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Don’t worry about the complicated back-end stuff until you’ve at least got several live blog posts under your belt.
2 – Hosting Your Blog

3 – Choosing A Blogging Platform
A blogging platform is a place your blog sits. In other words, it’s the software or service that you use to publish your content onto the internet in the form of a blog. This part you need to make sure you clearly understand.
When I started blogging, I was kinda confused about these two concepts and made sure I researched the topic until I had a concrete understanding. I’ll make it easy for you to understand.
• Self-Hosted Platforms (Recommended): This platform allows you to run a blog on your own domain. Aside from the web hosting company’s rules, when you self-host you’re fully in charge of your blog and its contents.
I use a very well-known and highly respected blogging platform called WordPress. In my opinion, it’s simply the best choice to make when managing your blogging content. Be sure to stay tuned as I will be developing some WordPress tutorials for beginners. There are more than 82 million active users of WordPress, and I’m one of them. You can be too!
You can also choose a free hosted blogging platform too. With Bluehost, using WordPress has never been easier.
Bluehost makes it super easy with their step-by-step instructions. Their wizard will help you to launch your site in no time. You don’t have to be a techie to get started. This is perfect for the newbie blogger too!
