4 Essential Features All Good Mattresses Must Have
If you are shopping for a good mattress, you’ll want to make sure they have these top four essential features first.
Did you know that 68 percent or an estimated 164 million Americans have a hard time sleeping at night? And that’s at least once a week!
Why It’s Essential All Good Mattresses Have These Top Features
Recently, we went mattress shopping and created a checklist of essential features we knew all good mattresses would have.
It was a valuable lesson for us because without the list, I know I would forget the key features I wanted.
More so, we wanted our guest room mattress to have the same creature comforts of home.
When you think about it, you need to really do your research before buying a mattress.
Did you know we spend nearly half of our lifetime lying around in bed? Think about that number – it’s astounding!
Therefore, getting a mattress is a pretty important decision. You need to ask yourself, what should you be looking for in a mattress?
Since there are so many good mattresses on the market, you need to do your homework. Doing so could guarantee a better overall sleeping experience!
1 – Make Sure Your Mattress Has High-Quality Materials
The type of materials you want in a mattress is a preference and one you should make prior to shopping.
For example, if you choose a latex mattress it will not exclusively contain all latex.
Instead, generally, it will include a layer of latex at the top, and most will have a cotton base.
More importantly, you’ll want to make sure the latex used in the mattress is not the same as one in a disposable glove!
Additionally, the same concepts apply with coil mattresses as well. Coils are small metal springs that make up the base of the mattress.
Many of these types of mattresses will have coils at the bottom so, if you don’t like coils, be careful not to choose one.
Today, these coils, usually wrapped in cotton or a foam layer, sits directly on top of them.
This layer prevents you from ending up laying in a metal bed. So, to ensure that you have a good night’s sleep, both the foam layer and the top layer must be thick enough and made with quality materials.
By now, you may think that mattress materials seem more complex than you realized. But there’s no reason why convenience and quality can’t be found in the same product.
Also, there are many companies that use quality materials while still putting their products at a decent price range.
2 – Defiantly Good Reviews
Online reviews can be a bit of a jungle. Especially when you’re looking at buyer reviews on online shopping sites.
It’s hard to trust the validity of a lot of these “experiences.” Thus, if negative reviews are a common theme for a specific mattress, this is something that should raise red flags.
Most of the reviews that people can actually trust though come from noteworthy magazines or other specialized sites that talk about the subject.
More so, detailed reviews that give out specific reasons why a mattress is good or not are usually more trustworthy.
A good rule of thumb – make sure the majority of reviews are good and detailed with images and customer’s names or email addresses.
3 – All Good Mattresses Have Warranties
We all know bedding is a good investment and that you are in for the long haul. This is why the warranty is super important.
Ideally, a mattress is going to have a life span of about 10 years. To get the most out of one’s investment, it’s best to see those ten years through.
Furthermore, if the mattress has a warranty, there’s a better chance that any buyer is going to get exactly what they’ve bargained for.
Don’t forget to read the fine print. As some warranties may look great when advertised, but if you look closer, there are a lot of factors that could see the warranty voided.
Also, there are companies that are constantly offering trial periods. Although it may not be a must that you have 100 days to sleep in the mattress before you must buy it, this could be a nice add-on.
In addition, you get the chance to really experience the potential comfort level that a specific mattress could provide.
4 – Make Sure It’s Easy To Assemble
It’s important that the mattress you’re about to buy can be easily assembled.
The reason for this is because the failure to properly set it up could potentially lead to an uncomfortable experience. One that, if we are honest about it, will not be entirely the mattresses’ fault.
If you’re not the person that likes or has a bit of experience with setting up furniture, make sure you purchase one already assembled.
Likewise, many mattresses come wrapped in plastic and all you do is open them and roll them out onto the bedframe. That makes this super easy!
Of course, if you want to adjust your headboard or other parts or other parts of it, this should be something that you can easily do.
There are a lot of factors that people could consider when ranking the top mattresses or when choosing what to buy.
As mentioned, sleeping in something that’s comfortable is the obvious ideal scenario.
Yet, comfort is a very vague concept; make sure your mattress features quality materials. Companies that guarantee their products will provide a good night’s sleep with warranties.
Moreover, they may seem like little details that at times could potentially be overlooked. Yet, when you add it all up, you could have the ideal mattress that you’ve been looking for.
