It’s been years since I’ve crocheted anything, and with so many free crochet patterns online, it’s so easy to start creating! I’m really looking forward to starting up again.

I was so proud when I crocheted this blanket. For some reason, I just stopped crocheting, and I’ve truly missed it. So, I started searching around for some free crochet patterns and decided to pick up where I left off. I still use this blanket daily and love it. It’s perfect for nestling up on the sofa and to use it as a throw.

My mother taught me how to crochet. It was the very first craft we bonded over and now that she is gone, it’s one of the most endearing things I can do to stay connected to her. If you love making anything from table toppers to stamping your own napkins and tablecloths be sure to check out this post too

Crocheting is fun and addicting!  One hook, a good skein of string and you’re on your journey to making something warm stunning or just plain stuff. There are millions of designs to select from, and you can easily spend countless hours just checking out them.

The big collection of free crochet patterns on the internet is just incredible. Quite often I get so enthusiastic about all the designs available, I forget things I was originally interested in!

Beginner Crochet Patterns

If you are a beginner then you will happy to discover there’s a lot of places to get started. To find out some good beginner’s crochet patterns, just search for crochet designs.

After that customize your advanced search, add the words like free and beginner. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the design links that will show up. Using the Internet, you always get help right when you need it.

There are lots of great discussion boards available, and crocheters really are a helpful and valuable group of people who love to help and share ideas with each other. Be sure to network with other folks who love crocheting too!

Since it’s been a while for me, I want to start with some of the easier patterns like scarfs, slippers, and this adorable crochet casserole cozy.

Easy and Free Designs

When you’re just starting, try to opt for an easy standard pattern. The simpler the pattern, the better it’ll be. For example, a child quilt, flannel, or even potholder (keep in mind that never make use of artificial wool for potholders, they’ll melt).

These are usually nothing but good options for the newbie. With these plans, you don’t have to bother with a gauge. You can easily focus on handling the wool and hook.

When you first get started, you will make crochet too snugly and later will feel ungainly, don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. This is a common practice happens occasionally, and you’ll put your feet up while you keep practicing. You’ll unwind the joints as you become confident with controlling the yarn and hook.

I love these adorable slippers! They look easy to make and very functional too!

Double and Single Crochet Stitches

Opt for a design that only has two-fold crochet (dc) or single crochet (SC) stitches. These are a couple of basic joints that some other crochet stitches don’t have. With only these 2 stitches and a smart selection of string color, you can easily make a beautiful child quilt, jacket, hat, and shoes set. I’d love to make this adorable crocheted top!

So, if you’re finding a fun activity, do try crocheting. It’s a good time, innovative and the best gift for yourself and others. When you get used to it, it gives you a passion for creating your patterns that sell more in the market.

If you are starting it as a business, then you shouldn’t wait to take your first steps. A good tip to remember is to always follow the copyright laws of the free designs. They usually are free to use but not to sell.

I just love this cloche! It’s super cute and easy to make. I want to make a few for the holidays. What a perfect gift!
