Unfortunately, we can’t reverse time, but we can reverse the signs of aging.
Although there is no way to stop this process – yet, there are several ways to go combat it.
With science backing theories proving that younger looking skin is attainable, the progression of skincare advances continually moves forward.
Ever since my teens, my mother taught me the basic principles of a good skincare routine and today, my skin reflects them.
Today, I’m sharing seven of my favorite skin care tips and what I do daily for younger looking skin.
1 – Exercise – Yes, It’s Great For Your Skin
Ideally, we all know that exercise is a fantastic way to support healthy body weight and muscle. But did you know it’s great for your skin too?
Studies show that working out increases the production of collagen, elastin and growth hormone.
Also, when blood flow increases during cardiovascular exercise, you deliver more vitamins throughout your body. This includes the skin which can actually repair the damage.
If you can’t get to the gym due to your busy schedule, you can get exercise in other ways.
More so, did you know cleaning your home is a great way to get exercise and burn calories?
While most of my exercise comes from walking and cleaning, I feel fortunate I can manage to fit both in my hectic schedule.
In addition, any exercise you do that promotes healthy circulation also keeps promotes younger looking skin too!
Also, since exercise decreases stress, some skin conditions can show signs of improvement as well.
All in all, exercise is a great way to stay in shape and keep your skin healthy as well.
2 – Always Wear Sunscreen – And I Mean Always
Recently, I devoted an entire article to the six reasons you must wear sunscreen every day.
Many of our perceptions about the sun’s harmful and damaging rays are incorrect. That’s why it’s important to understand why you must wear sunscreen every day.
As you know, our skin is our body’s largest organ and requires total protection. If you want younger looking skin, you must take total care of your skin. That means sunscreen every day on sun-exposed areas.
More importantly, the sun exposure breaks down collagen, which is responsible for plump, smooth skin. It also keeps new collagen from forming.
Damaging rays from the sun also reduces oils in the skin causing it to look rough and patchy.
Likewise, wearing sunscreen helps protect skin from the harmful effects of the sun.
Also, wearing hats and sunglasses can also help shield the body from sun exposure. Don’t take this advice lightly! It’s one of my top skincare tips for sure!
3 – HGH (Human Growth Hormone) Therapy
There’re a lot of discussions about anti aging effects HGH has on the human body. HGH is a protein in the pituitary gland.
If you enjoy learning about scientific advances in skincare, the principles of this therapy are very interesting and exciting.
While HGH does give us younger looking skin, it’s not for everyone. Be sure to check with your doctor before you commit to any medical treatment.
Moreover, as science makes discoveries in skincare technologies, it’s worth mentioning as an option for some.
In children, it stimulates bone growth, but as we age GH levels decrease. Taking HGH shots boosts the GH production.
In addition, the boost lowers fat, encourages lean muscle mass growth, and alters insulin levels.
The benefits from the injections may include increased energy, muscle mass, and wrinkle reduction.
4 – Meditation Can Help You Attain Younger Looking Skin
As someone who suffers from anxiety, I can attest to the benefits of meditation. Learning various relaxation techniques, personally helped me overcome the effects of anxiety.
Did you know a high percentage of the population struggles with stress to varying degrees as well?
So, what does meditation have to do with younger looking skin?
Furthermore, stress raises cortisol which causes the flight or fight response in the body. This can have some detrimental effects on aging. According to Anthony L. Komaroff, M.D., stress shortens a part of cells known as telomeres.
In addition, if the telomeres become too short, the cell dies. Meditation works in the opposite way of stress. It triggers the relaxation response in the body.
Furthermore, relaxation helps the body to repair itself and prevent physical damage due to the stress response.
More so, mediation can slow down the aging process and the increase in oxygen rejuvenates our skin.
Generally, it can also improve your complexion, reduce wrinkles and slow down the aging process from the inside out.
The good news – you can meditate anywhere even from your desk at work!
Personally, I try and meditate several times a week although it’s most beneficial to practice meditation a few times a day. #SettingGoals
5 – Quit Smoking
If you smoke and you still want younger looking skin, news flash, quit! I think it’s safe to say we all know smoking is bad for your overall health as well.
In addition, the longer you smoke and the more cigarettes you smoke, the worse the damage.
Smoking restricts blood vessels leading to the skin inhibiting oxygen travel. This creates dry, damaged skin.
However, the components in tobacco also damage collagen and elastin production. Smoking causes skin damage all over the body.
This causes the skin to sag in such places as arms and breasts. Having dry saggy skin ages a person’s appearance.
6 – The Benefits Of Vitamins For Your Skin
Retinoids and carotenoids are two types of Vitamin A that help skin looks younger.
Above all, Retinoids stimulate collagen production and the production of new skin cells. Retinoids are effective when you apply them topically to your skin. We ingest Carotenoids through our diet.
One example is beta-carotene. Studies show that carotenoids can prevent cell damage and premature aging.
Additionally, another great Vitamin to counteract signs of aging is Vitamin C. Vitamin C acts as antioxidant fighting off free radicals which are responsible for aging.
Vitamin C also helps fight damage due to sun exposure. It can also inhibit melanin formation, keeping skin smooth, silky and glowing.
7 – A Skincare Routine That Works For You
Lastly, a good skincare routine that works for you is essential for younger looking skin.
I believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of using skincare products each day. While I do shuffle my skincare products every few months, I recommend you test a good variety of products and discover what works best for you.
More so, when it comes to skincare routines, I highly recommend using an eye cream, a serum, deep penetrating moisturizers, exfoliates, masks, cleansers and toners to your routine. I know it sounds like a lot, but trust me, if you want younger looking skin, it’s worth it!

Although aging is a part of life we can fight the signs of aging successfully! Good skincare tips are essential and discovering them is so important.
Science proves we can combat the outcome of aging in a healthy and positive way.
