1 – Give Your Home & Garden A Fresh New Spring Cleaning
Even though we clean our homes all year long, there’s nothing like a good spring cleaning to freshen things up. I created a checklist for you to make your spring cleaning easier and more manageable.
Be sure to download your free copy of the Spring deep-cleaning checklist here. Below, you can see my home is so fresh and clean and it didn’t cost a dime – except for using my favorite cleaning products that is!
You’d be surprised how different your home could look, simply by giving it a good clean inside and out. Focus on those hard-to-reach areas which hardly ever get done. Never let things get out of hand – Once you get your home nice and clean, try and keep it that way.
To do this, make sure you do touch up cleaning at least every other day. Be sure to touch up the bathrooms by going in with some Windex or Fantastik and give them a quick once-over. Be sure and give your bins a good clean and mow the lawn and tidy up the garden area. You don’t want to forget the outside areas of your home too.
Last year, we purchased a pressure washer, and wow, it was one of the best investments to keep everything clean in our backyard, too. You may want to invest in a jet washer from a company such as SGS, to give the patio and pavements a thorough clean. Once you’ve cleaned absolutely everything, your home will look and feel so much nicer.
2 – Add Greenery Indoors & Out
Another simple tip to give the home a new look is to add a little greenery both indoors and out. Changing my plants and flowers is one of my favorite inexpensive home decorating ideas. I change my indoor and outdoor flower pots either by buying some news or creating a stunning decorative flower pot myself!
You can also save money with some crafting projects to beautify your outdoors. I made these Beautiful Applique Clay Flower Pots, and they were so easy to make, too. I absolutely love them and have them all ready for this Spring again!
Another way to brighten up your outdoor space is to create a colorful flowerpot to feature outdoors. This unique Colorful Jute Wrapped Flowerpot is one of my favorites. I find it so relaxing to create beautiful flowerpots, and it’s really inexpensive too.
Flowers and plants can really help to brighten up the inside and outside of the home and potentially improve the air quality. It’s an inexpensive way to give the home a fresh look, and you could even opt for artificial flowers in the house if you’re not great at remembering to water them!
3 – Rearrange Your Furniture – One Of Our Favorite Inexpensive Home Decorating Ideas
A great way to achieve a brand-new look without spending a penny is to rearrange your furniture. I find this a great way to give your home a fresh new look without the expense of redecorating.
I go through each room and plan out what I want to rearrange ahead of time. This is a great way to stay organized too. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself selling or donating some older pieces you might be tired of as well.
Additionally, I especially like rearranging my living room. Try moving your sofa closer to a window – it really gives your furniture a new perspective when you move things around.
Simply moving everything to a new location, such as moving the sofa to face a different way, can give the room a totally fresh design. You could also do the same in the garden. Move your patio furniture around and consider new ways to spruce up the garden with items you already have.
4 – Invest In New Soft Furnishings Like New Bedding Or Throw Pillows
Finally, another easy way to achieve a new look is to invest in soft furnishings. Changing your curtains and bedding can make a big difference while adding a rug to the room is another great option.
You don’t have to spend a fortune either. There are many companies online that sell beautiful handmade cushion covers that are inexpensive and perfect for giving any room inside your home a refreshing new look.
What I love about adding new cushion covers is that it is one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways of adding new patterns, colors, and textures into a space. It’s also quick and easy to switch out your cushion covers giving you the option to mix up the look and feel of your room within a matter of minutes.
In fact, this is one of my favorite inexpensive home decorating ideas too. Adding new throw pillows to your bedroom or living room can really perk up your decor. If you want to save money, you can just use decorative pillow covers instead! They are a lot less expensive and you get a whole new look too!
Throws can be added to the sofas, and new cushion covers can help update the home according to the changing seasons. You’ll also want to consider replacing patio chair cushions too.
5 – Perk Up The Kids Room Too!
It’s always fun for the kiddies when you redecorate their room as well. As they grow up, you’ll want to keep things interesting for them by creating a fun and exciting place for them to sleep and play in.
Moreso, you can add some fun decorative wallpaper or decals. If you don’t want the expense of adding wallpaper, try fun decorative decals for the wall. They are easy to install and the kids love them!
As the image below shows, these fun space wall decals really change the entire look of the room.
It really is simple to give the home a new look without spending a fortune. The above are some of the best things you can try to update the home ready for summer. Remember, the spring and summer months are a time to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. So, don’t forget to focus on the outside of the home, as well as the inside.
