A New Walk-in Closet That Transformed My Bedroom
A New Walk-in Closet That Transformed My Bedroom
This project has made me so happy and excited. There was this odd space in my master bedroom and it was this empty corner that was basically useless.
We decided to put that space to good use by building a small walk-in. I love it and can’t express how useful this now is. Of course, we hired a contractor. I had a small space to work with so I had no choice but to be sassy when designing it.
This space was essentially useless. As you can see below, I tried to hide it using my dresser. Obviously, that didn’t work. I think I tried several ways to hide and still use this wasted space in my bedroom. This was the best use of space I’ve ever worked it. And it didn’t make my bedroom look any smaller which was even better!
This picture was taken before we moved it and the house was just built. I thought that little space would be lovely for a piece of furniture – was I ever wrong.
Before: Well, you can see the hideous corner area. It was hideous! I tried using my armoire to cover the space and actually used it to store my shoes. It was a hot mess!
Now, it’s a fully functioning closet with loads of storage space. Creating this closet actually brightened up my bedroom and created a whole new space for me to store just about everything. I can actually walk around in it a little too – not much but a little.
What a huge difference this has made!
The cost was about two thousand dollars from start to finish and worth every penny of it! The strip lighting I added at the entrance turned out to be a wonderful addition. They even installed a light switch for it! If you have room for a small walk-in closet go for it! It changes everything.
Make sure you storyboard the layout of exactly where you want things to go first. And be sure to use every inch of space.
As you can see, inside I have plenty of room and shelving. I installed foot-wide shelving on both sides for shoe storage and on top for clothing storage as well. That worked out really well.
I hope you were inspired by this project and can add some valuable walk-in closet space to your bedroom too.
