Let me tell you a little bit about these two cookbooks and how much I’ve enjoyed them, and in the process, becoming a better cook too! Oh! Don’t forget to check out all of our recipes while you are here too!
The first book I want to share with you is called Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life – and it’s written by the icon and legend country music icon Martina McBride! I immediately felt such a deep connection to her because she said, cooking and singing aren’t all that different and when she makes something delicious, she wants to share it, which is a lot like sharing her music with an audience.
I connected deeply with her mission statement as one of Sassy Townhouse’s Living reason for being is we love sharing the best of everything we know and love with you all too!
About the Author: Martina McBride
When she’s not on stage or in the studio, Martina is most likely experimenting in the kitchen and cooking with family and friends. She grew up on a farm in Kansas, Martina began helping her mother in the kitchen at an early age, preparing fresh-from-the-field ingredients. Meals and stories were shared daily around the table.
Martins has been honored with more than 15 major music awards, including four wins from the Country Music Association and three Academy of Country Music Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year. When she isn’t in the studio, she focuses her time on charitable causes dear to her heart. Through her Teem Music Is Love charity initiative, Martina partners with nonprofit causes to help many of the towns she’s performing in.
Martina also invites fans to join her team in making the world a better place through the power of music. Since 2011, Team Music Is Love has been responsible for many successful fundraising and volunteer projects helping causes such as hunger relief, cancer research, combating domestic violence and helping children in need. She was also recently awarded the Covenant House Beacon of Hope Award and Music Business Association’s prestigious 2015 Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award for her philanthropic efforts on behalf of domestic violence.
In this beautifully photographed cookbook Martina’s Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life, readers will find more than 100 simple and satisfying recipes filled with fresh, seasonal ingredients and down-home flavor. Martina also shows us how to make cooking fun with creative “ad-lib” tips for recipe riffs too! I love how the images of all the delicious recipes inspire me to recreate and feast in the wonderfully crafted recipes!
Whip up Martina’s family favorites like her mother-in-law Flavia’s Deviled Eggs, husband John’s Bacon-Wrapped Olives, or her go-to Grilled Shrimp Tacos with Chipotle Sauce and Slaw. Plan a weekend brunch menu, serving Baked French Toast with Pecan Crumble and Blackberry-Maple Syrup and Hashbrown Breakfast Casserole with Tomato Gravy.
Toast friends at happy hour with her Blackberry-Lemon Gin & Tonic while enjoying Grilled Sweet Peppers with Goat Cheese and Herbs, and an absolutely scrumptious recipe for Chicken Panini with Southwestern Pesto! You’ll find your own invitation to step inside Martina’s kitchen and sample more than 150 of her favorite dishes, whether the recipes were passed down from relatives or tested to perfection by Martina herself!
And when it’s time to celebrate with family and indulge in dessert, try Martina’s Fresh Apple Cake with Homemade Caramel Sauce or No-Bake Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cookies. Wouldn’t you love to win a copy, so you can become a better cook too?
