Save Money Holiday Shopping From The Comfort Of Your Home
We all love shopping from home wearing our favorite pair of comfy pajamas, or at least I know I do!
More so, online shopping grows in popularity every year, and why not? It’s easy, fast, saves money, and above all, we don’t need to deal with crowds. With the holidays upon us, it’s time to get busy shopping and take advantage of those great deals. You don’t have to wait for Black Friday to save money on holiday shopping.
Additionally, did you know holiday spending will increase by 5% this year? And, 53% of folks will shop digitally this year too to avoid crowds at the mall. I can’t say I blame them.
So, let’s get to it! Below, you’ll find six of our favorite ways to save money holiday shopping.
1 – Making A List And Defining Your Budget
It’s surprising to discover how many of us take the time to make a holiday shopping list and define our spending budget.
For example, did you know nearly 1/3 of American shoppers consistently went over their holiday shopping budgets? That’s a lot of people! If you want to save money holiday shopping, you need to make a list and stick to your budget. That might not sound like a revelation, but it’s key for saving money this year.
Unfortunately, I admit I’m one of those people. I always blow my budget every year and can cause distress. That’s why I listed it first and foremost. Be sure to detail your list for your family and friends, define exactly how much you can afford to spend, and stick to it!

2 – Why You Need To Use Coupon Discount Website To Save Money
Ideally, you’ll want a website with easy to use coupons where you don’t have to hunt for them.
That’s why I like and rely on Coupon Dad – they have awesome coupons for so many categories like health & beauty, travel, apparel all the way to sporting goods. You can easily see what’s trending and get a detailed product review as well.
And, cashback websites like rakuten.com, Ebates, Mr. Rebates, EvoShare, and Swagbucks can really help you save money. These websites can really help you save money holiday shopping, and I also like getting emails about upcoming deals too
Plus, don’t forget about Open Box deals too. Open Box products didn’t work out for the customers for one reason or another and returned. You can save lots of money on these types of products and you can get a very deep discount!
I love using Wafair’s Open Box discounts, and every product they offer through it saves me lots of money every year. However, it’s important to note the return policies when purchasing through Open Box. Often, they don’t allow returns or exchanges, so always check.
3 – Tracking Prices Online To Save Money Holiday Shopping
Furthermore, now that we established we love shopping online and it’s a great way to save money holiday shopping, we need to track pricing.
I always use a website called CamelCamelCamel to track online prices. There, you can check historical price fluctuations and check to see how low prices will go. Make sure you start checking prices online early – this way, and you can get the best deal when notified of price drops.
In addition, don’t forget to sign up for email notifications from your favorite shops. They will also let you know about special pricing events too.
4 – Load Up Your Shopping Cart – And Then Abandon It!
Another favorite way to save money holiday shopping – load up your cart and leave! Ideally, many retailers online don’t like it when you do this and often prompt additional discounts.
In the past, I often receive emails from retailers asking why I left items in my basket and offering additional deals and discounts. You might even see these deals on your social media too. Once you do, you can apply the discount, and bam! Now, you are a skilled and savvy shopper!
So, before you make your purchases, always remember to take a deep breath and wait!
5 – Take Advantage Of Live Chat To Save Money Holiday Shopping
Since most retailers feature a live chat option, why not communicate directly with the company? In the past, I was able to procure dozens of discounts using it. It’s particularly awesome around holiday time.
When I ask, they provide me with codes for free shipping and additional percentages off my purchase too! In other words, if you don’t ask – you don’t get! Most customer service agents do have a certain amount of leeway when it comes to providing additional discounts.
And, remember, all they can say is no, right? I must add, every time I ask, they always provide me with additional ways to save!
