Living Room Blinds – Ideas You Need To Think About

Sharing is Caring! ❤️

When decorating your home, the idea of buying one thing and fitting it all over the house is very old and outdated now. You can’t fit one thing in every room or even in every corner of a single room. The same is the case with window blinds. Shopping for living room blinds can be confusing and difficult deciding which style you want.

Empowering Your Choices For Your Living Room Blinds

Deciding which living room blinds we wanted in our townhouse was not an easy task. First, we had to do a lot of research and measuring, and finally, we were able to choose window blinds we loved.

You may have to choose the different types of window blinds for various rooms and even further for other windows of the same room. Most rooms have a single window, so you can select any type that can fit on all the windows, but the situation changes when it comes to the living room.

Window Slat Sizes

The width of the slats should be your first decision. Ask yourself how wide do you want them? Generally, blind slats come in three standard sizes, ½ inch, 1 inch, and 2 inches. ½ blind slats are the most popular and give your living room a contemporary look.

If you love that old-fashioned or old-world look, you should generally choose the 2-inch slats, which are reminiscent of older-style Venetian blinds. For living room blinds, you’ll want to make a style statement and still maintain privacy. Shopping for lounge blinds and curtains can be confusing when trying to decide which style you really want.

Living Rooms Are Unique

Selecting window blinds for your living is a bit tricky task. First, you must carefully choose because it’s a place where you and your family spend most of the time together.

It’s a good idea to have everyone involved in the decision process happy with your selections. First, however, it’s essential to think about some key pointers, especially for your living room.

Color – The Most Important Concept

When you visit the market to buy window blinds, you see a good variety of colors available in wood blinds. Now, this wide variety can put you in confusion. Is it the sofa or just the main theme you followed in the whole living room? By answering this question, things will not be complicated anymore. Choose a neutral color closest to the window trim color if you want a long-term, classic blind that will not become dated.

You can never go wrong with that approach. This approach is the safest and will not offend potential buyers, which is smart thinking ahead! Wood blinds — even faux wood ones — are another popular option and have a more organic feel to them than aluminum blinds have.

Window Position

Window position is the second most important factor while buying the window blinds for your room. However, this is because window position defines the purpose of window blinds. For example, the window might be in a position where you get a very bright sun flare and sometimes bright enough that you can’t even see what’s on your TV Screen. If that’s the case, you will need the window blinds to stop the sunlight.

If the window opens on the roadside, the main purpose can be privacy. You don’t want passing by people to peek through the window. In that case, you must buy things which can cover windows completely with no gaps between, so that no one can look into your living room. So depending upon the window position, the purpose of window blinds can vary.

Furthermore, you should get a clear idea about the main purpose, and then it will be easier for you to decide what type of window blinds you need.

Style And Texture For Your Living Room Blinds

Choosing which style you want can seem like the least important factor while buying the window blinds for your living room. However, the type of window blinds normally depends upon the window, as mentioned earlier, position and purpose factor.

The purpose is to stop light from entering the room. Then you may choose some thicker blinds like wooden window blinds. If the aim is to control the light coming in, then wooden Venetian blinds may fulfill your needs.

These are good even when you want the privacy factor. Vertical blinds are good if you need to cover bigger windows, then vertical aluminum Venetian blinds are suitable for you. When it comes to your living room blinds, always do the research!

  1. I’ve never been a big fan of blinds. I think my mind somehow got stuck back in the 80’s when blinds always made me think of an office instead of a home. After seeing some of the pics you shared here though, I’m going to have to rethink my “blind” spot. Some of them are absolutely gorgeous.
