Sometimes, all you need is creativity and savvy to transform your space entirely. This year, I have several ideas to update my bedroom without spending a small fortune. Even if you have a small bedroom, you can still create a beautiful cozy space to sleep in and enjoy.
Regardless of the situation, we all grow tired of our old aesthetics and need some simple yet creative ideas. Maybe you just moved into a new place, or need a change of pace; you know when it’s time for an update.
Remember, there’s no time like the present to get things done around your home. It’s always a good idea to plan ahead, so be sure to keep a running list of your easy bedroom ideas as well.
In this article, you’ll discover quick and easy bedroom ideas to help inspire you along the way as well.
1 – Start By Changing the Draperies
As you know, bedroom curtains have a significant impact on the overall look and feel of your bedroom. The good news is they aren’t that expensive to replace. Changing the curtains in our bedroom, fortunately, is one of these easy bedroom ideas.
Depending on how bright and refreshing you want the room, you can easily modify your curtains. If you wish to dark and cool, opt for heavy drapery. But if you want a lot of natural light, use light sheer curtains or don’t use any at all!
Typically, our windows are the focal points of every room in our home and the bedroom, even more so. If your bedroom features an overall theme, you might want to make your window curtains pop with variety. Or, you can stick within the same theme.
For example, window draperies come in a variety of themes and design elements. You can go with Modern, Eclectic, Dramatic, Feminine, Classic, or Shabby Chic Bedroom Curtains.
It’s also a good idea to think about the amount of sunlight you want to bring into your bedroom. You can decide on Blackout Curtains, Room Darkening Curtains, or Light Filtering Curtains. Make sure you know the look and feel beforehand to make shopping easier for you.
2. Add A Bedside Rug For Elegance And Comfort
Even if your bedroom has wall-to-wall carpeting, adding a bedside rug always adds a touch of elegance, comfort, and style to any bedroom. Plus, this past year, you’ll see more of area rugs featured in home decor magazines as well.
Aside from experience the warmth and cozy fabric on your feet, they add depth and dimension to your bedroom. Plus, adding one is budget-friendly and one of my favorite easy bedroom ideas I love and use myself.
Aesthetically, rugs can up the comfort level of a room even more. If you already have carpeting and plan to add this overlaying, you won’t need a rug padding. If you have hardwood floors, it’s a good idea to purchase rug padding to prevent rug slippage.
With so many styles to choose from, you can opt for a lush Sheepskin Throw Rug to step into every morning. While they tend to be a tad more expensive, you’ll have it for years! Not only do they look stunning but stylish as well.
If you want a plush area rug with an affordable option, you opt for one with the same look and style at much lower prices. More so, there’s a variety of color options to choose from to match your decor.
3. Add Or Change Your Headboard – Easy Bedroom Ideas That Transform Your Space!
Are you the type of person that doesn’t like a headboard behind your head while sleeping? If so, you might want to rethink that decision. Adding a headboard not only adds a level of style to your bedroom but, you’ll love the extra support it gives too.
For instance, Upholstered Headboards seem more popular now than ever before. They not only look beautiful but feel amazing as well. Plus, you can purchase them in an array of beautiful colors and fabrics.
Since their popularity, prices dropped dramatically, and you can find an Upholstered Headboard for about $150! This Upholstered Headboard is the perfect example. The price is incredible and the look is stunning!
Personally, this is one of these easy bedroom ideas I love and highly recommend. We decided to get one for our guest room, and I know our guests will appreciate and enjoy it as well.
4. Changing Your Bedding – Easy Bedroom Ideas We Love
Above all, changing your bedding is one of the best easy bedroom ideas you can decide to do to transform your space. On top of ensuring your bed should be the right size for you, your bed sheets should also be in a style that you like.
Nowadays, you can find affordable bedding in a variety of styles and fabrics too. It’s a small change that will create a significant impact. Find a color that’s completely different from your current one and add accents in different colors with the pillows. Don’t be afraid to try out different textures and patterns as well.
5. Enhance And Update Your Bedroom Lighting
OK, this is one of my favorite easy bedroom ideas and for a good reason. Changing your bedroom lighting will significantly improve the look and feel of any room and, more so, your bedroom.
For instance, you can try replacing some lighting fixtures or add one if you don’t currently have one. It’s not that expensive to add an overhead lighting fixture, and you’ll love how much it brightens up your bedroom.
A good example, this Crystal Chandelier Ceiling Light features four layers of transparent crystals which diffuse the stunning lights full of radiance and sparkle. Moreover, it’s not expensive, and you can stick to your budget easily as well.
Another excellent option is this Modern Décor Crystal Flush Mount Fixture, and it’s highly affordable as well. Both of these light fixtures make the perfect replacement or additions to your bedroom. Try to expand your comfort zone when it comes to bedroom lighting. You might see how pleasantly surprising the changes will make you feel.
As far as bedside lamps go, replacing them transforms your bedroom space, and you can easily add pops of color to your decor that way too. If you don’t want to spend the money right now replacing them, you can try upcycling them into brand new with this DIY project.
For example, you can add these Color Changing LED Light Bulbs to any existing lamp or fixture and completely change the mood of any room. I use them in my office and absolutely love them. Depending on my mood, I can easily switch the mood by changing the color.
6. It’s Time To Rethink Your Walls
Changing the patterns, textures, and colors of your walls can be a game-changer for your bedroom. If you never thought about adding wallpaper or beautiful decorative murals, you might want to consider adding them.
If you want to, you can easily paint your bedroom instead. When you are ready, ask for paint samples at the hardware store and try it out on a patch of wall first. Sometimes, what may look good on paper will not look so good on the wall.
However, if you don’t want to do either, you can always add beautiful decorative artwork to your bedroom walls. Yes, you can find very affordable prints for your walls with ready to go mounting.
For example, this Abstract Blooming Flower Picture Print will add pops of floral colors and cozy up any room, especially your bedroom. Plus, for around $30, you can find a companion piece to go with it as well.
7. Adding Storage Space Is A Win-Win
More times than not, we all need extra storage space in our bedrooms. Last year, I even built an additional walk-in closet in my bedroom, and still, that’s not enough space.
With that said, I decided to add some decorative elements to my bedroom like Wicker Baskets for additional storage. Not only do they look beautiful, but I can stow away extra quilts and pillows there too.
Another excellent idea for beautifying your bedroom, get rid of stuff and start to declutter and organize instead. This way, it doesn’t cost any money and can transform the look of your bedroom. Now, these are easy bedroom ideas we love and appreciate, right?
Recently, I purchased a Bed Tray with Phone Holder to stow away my phone, tablet, and TV remotes. I love using it at night when cozied up with my tech gear. Now, I have a place for everything I need, and when done, it collapses easily and stows away!
8. When All Else Fails, Rearrange Your Furniture
So, you want some easy bedroom ideas, but your wallet tells you this isn’t the right time. At this point, you can still do something to transform the look and feel of your bedroom. Consider a new furniture layout and make sure it’s completely different than what you have today.
First, on paper, map out how your bedroom looks now and then keep moving pieces until you know they will work. There are also many phone apps out there that help as well. Some may charge for services, so always check ahead before downloading them to your phone.
Moving furniture pieces around your bedroom can kick things up. Try using the light from your window to focus on one of your favorite items. You can try placing a comfy chair near the window and the perfect little decorative end table too. Now, you have a cozy nook to kick back, relax, and read your favorite book.
