As you know, when you turn 25, you can legally rent a car on your own! More so, it’s almost time for you to think about applying for your health insurance as well. First of all, wouldn’t you agree that’s one of the essential things you should know?

It’s also a good idea to start planning so you can set yourself up for the success you deserve. Yes, it feels like ages ago since I turned 25, but it’s a milestone you never forget.

Looking back, I wish we had the internet to help us prepare for the years in front of us. The internet is genuinely a useful tool if you know how to weed out the negative stuff. Above all, it would have immensely helped when I started working in Corporate America!

More so, when we turn 25, life has a lot more in store for us to discover too. This article will look at five of these important things and ensure we have our bases covered.

Below, you’ll discover five things to know when you turn 25 and after that too!

1 – When You Turn 25, Now’s The Time To Really Focus On Your Physical Health

Typically, when in our early 20s, we don’t take as much time to think about our bodies and health. Instead, we pretty much eat, dance, and party without thinking about the consequences. However, this holds for so many of us, while obviously, not all.

We tend to think our youth will last forever, and the thought of old age completely eludes us. By the time we turn 25, it smacks us like a brick wall. Turning 30 draws closer, and now you can see how quickly the years flew by us all.

By the time we turn 25, important things become a reality, especially our diets. You realize a poor diet lacking the essentials leaves us feeling weak, moody, jittery, tired, and lazy. That’s why it’s time to understand we must take care of ourselves and especially our diets.

To take better care of yourself, try to implement the following into your daily life.

  • Make sleep a priority (at least 8 hours per night)
  • Start eating healthier foods
  • Exercise regularly with a routine that works for you
  • Try to avoid caffeine after 4 pm
  • Create a positive and relaxed environment at home
  • Schedule regular checkups with your doctors
  • Remove stressors from your life whenever possible
  • Take the time to read and put that phone down

These important things will help you to feel and look better too. But, more importantly, it’s a good idea to make a list of these things and stick to them daily. Keeping this healthy routine will ensure you have your health concerns covered and come first in your lives.

2 – It’s A Good Idea Have Your Own Auto Insurance

Before my daughter turned 25, she was on our insurance plan. Of course, that’s OK, but when you turn 25, it’s time to finally get off your parent’s policy and get your auto insurance yourself. Most parents allow this time to get their ducks in a row and prepare to pay the costs independently.

Yes, this means paying another bill on your own, but, as an adult, it’s one of those important things you must do on your own. While so many companies offer insurance, it’s a good idea to research to ensure you choose a perfect fit based on your needs.

For example, you can decide to get great auto insurance with USAA if you like, so make sure you check out what they offer. They also cater to the military with perks like vehicle storage, payment plans, and military installation discounts.

When my son and daughter had to apply for their auto insurance, we took a good look at their plans and benchmarked them with other companies. But, of course, we all want to help our children make the right decisions, so asking for assistance from your parents is the right way to go.

When deciding on what auto insurance to purchase, be sure to check the following important guidelines:

  1. Check their annual rates
  2. Choose a top-rated insurer
  3. Keep your credit in top shape
  4. Pick a deductible that fits your financial needs
  5. Make sure you review your coverage with your parents or a close family or friend
  6. Find  out where your insurer sends you for repairs or replacements
  7. More importantly, choose the right vehicle that fits your budget and safety requirements
  8. Always beware of insurance scams. Thoroughly vet any insurance company before signing on with them. You can always check with the Better Business Bureau first!
  9. Ensure you take advantages of discounts and make sure you ask about them beforehand
  10. Remember, you can always change insurance companies if you need to but check with their policy first

Hopefully, by practicing smart measures and researching beforehand, when you turn 25, you’ll have your insurance! Acquiring your auto insurance is one sure step in the process of independence you need and, more so, deserve!

3 – Always Take Care Of Body And Mind And The Rest Will Follow

While it might seem obvious, keeping your car, apartment, and body clean, and hygiene as a top priority is of the utmost importance. But, think about some of your friends who don’t!

Similarly, have you ever sat in a car that had more garbage in it than you pail at home? Did you ever walk into someone’s house, and the mess was too much to bear? What about physical hygiene? The same truth holds steadfast for that as well. Practicing body and mind care all starts with self-love and self-care.

For example, in the book 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson, you’ll find treasured nuggets of important things and rules to live your life. Almost all of the essential regulations point to self-care and self-love. He also makes a great point in saying you can fix the world by first cleaning your room.

Remember, your adult self-transformation only happens when you work hard, ensuring movement and growth in your life. Dr. Peterson explains it all brilliantly and tidies up the concept perfectly. If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend doing so.

Bottom line, by the time you turn 25, self-care and self-love are two concepts you should know and practice with all your might. These two concepts will take you through the rest of your life in the most healthy way possible.

4 – Setting Up Your Life Goals And Create A Plan For Action When You Turn 25

If you haven’t already thought about it, by the time you turn 25, you should have a plan of action prepared for your life’s goals. Whether you decide to go to college or assume a fantastic career instead, setting goals is essential.

If you haven’t already thought about it, by the time you turn 25, you should have a plan of action prepared for your life’s goals. Whether you decide to go to college or assume a fantastic career instead, setting goals is essential.

However, if you seem to struggle with direction and goal setting, I highly recommend reading Gary Vaynerchuk’s Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion. Within Gary’s videos and books, you’ll find motivation, direction, and inspiration to discover your life’s goals and passion.

Additionally, the four-time New York Times best-selling author Gary Vaynerchuk offers new lessons and inspiration drawn from the experiences of dozens of influencers and entrepreneurs. Of course, I find discovering inspiration from well-known public figures, family, or successful friends a great place to start.

Whatever path you choose, it’s time to dig your heels in and start to work on a plan of action. Remember, it’s never too late, but at the same token, the sooner, the better.

5 – Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

As Jordan B. Peterson put it, “now’s the time to judge yourself by your own goals, not by others.” Unfortunately, with mass media literally at our fingertips all day, comparing ourselves to others is dangerous and sadly inevitable.

Below, you’ll find 10 Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others.

  1. Be grateful – always: Remember this, you can’t experience gratitude and fear at the same time. Always be grateful for who you are and what you have.
  2. Comparison Is a Waste Of Time: Focus on your journey. Don’t waste your time on someone else’s.
  3. You Are a Unique Creature: You will never have someone else’s life. You are a unique creation, and you need to own it!
  4. There Is No End to The Number of Things You Can Compare: You can literally have an endless list of things to compare yourself to. It’s an unrealistic goal to think you can have it all.
  5. The Focus Needs to Be On You: Don’t waste time and effort on thinking about other people, but rather, use that time for you!
  6. Comparison Equals Resentment: You end up resenting yourself and others.
  7. Focus on Your Strengths: You have them. Use them!
  8. Stay Away from Comparison Triggers: De-clutter your social media timeline and stay away from Facebook or other things that you find trigger your comparisons.
  9. Stop Comparison Shaming Yourself: We all compare. You are no different. Find a non-toxic way to get what you want.
  10. Design Your Own Growth Goals: You are good at something! Find it, nurture it, be it. Design your own goals and focus on them.

In Conclusion

More importantly, now that you have turned 25 or older, it’s time to focus on the important things, whatever you decide they are, and focus on becoming the person you always desired.

Regardless of our age, we all need to work on loving ourselves and each other more. So what do you find as the most valuable lesson learned by the time you turned 25 and why? It’s essential to ask yourself these questions and create a checklist to live by and improve your life!
